Blanking plates

Original de Havilland Mosquito aircraft panels hand painted with the artwork applied to RAF and RCAF Mosquito aircraft in WW2.

These are large flat blanking plates stamped on one side with a 98 part number and an inspectors stamp. Some also have an S983 part number which confirms that this is a Mosquito part used for etc aircraft services on the right hand side. They are all New Old Stock unused panels in storage for 70 years.

They are 29cm( 11.5 inches) in diameter and have the original grey/green paint on the reverse side.

We have repainted one side in Medium Sea Grey with Dark Green ( and Ocean Grey for Freddie).

We have painted Nose Art on three panels so far:

1. Blackie and Kirk were the pilot and navigator from a 406 squadron RCAF aircraft . Squadron Leader D.J. "Black" Williams and his navigator C.J. Kirkpatrick were painted on the side of their Mosquito.

2. Hairless Joe HR147 like the other mosquito's of 418 squadron had the cartoon character from Al Capp's Li'l Abner cartoon.

3. F for Freddie - Mosquito dropping bomb on Hitler painted on LR503 a 213 operations Mosquito
